What is a dressing room?
A dressing room is a role playing community where you can pick up any character you like and play them right away--like trying on a set of clothes.
What kind of characters can I play here?
This is a Supernatural themed dressing room. As a result, all characters should originate from or be based on characters in the Supernatural universe. You can play regular Sam or Dean from any season you like, vampire!Castiel, rule!63 Jack, grown up Ben, a human version of the Impala, AU!Baker!Charlie etc etc. The only limit is your imagination. The character can be real or invented, have a detailed backstory or not--it's entirely up to you.
So does this mean I can play original characters?
If they're based on the Supernatural universe, absolutely.
But wait, does this mean I have to play with other people's OCs?
Not if you don't want to. In fact, it's up to you who you RP with. If you don't want to play with someone don't play with them. Nobody's going to hold your hand, but we do expect you to be nice to each other and play by the rules.
Does this mean there will be repeats of canon characters? Can't I make a face claim?
There's plenty of places where you can choose to play just one character and ring fence that character for yourself. In a dressing room, dozens of people can play Dean Winchester if they want to, and they can come and go as much as they want to. Part of the fun is to find new exciting twists on characters, though, so why not give it a try?
Spoilers
Spoilers must be warned for above a cut and hidden below it. If there are spoilers in your threads, warn for them in the subject line. And if you don't want spoilers at all, make sure to write "No spoilers after episode number X" in your post/title somewhere!

What is the setting?
The setting of this dressing room is what's known as a nexus. In canon terms it's a little like Supernatural's Heaven, with or without the doors, a series of different environments which are mysteriously linked. Traveling the nexus is as much will as anything else.
The mods propose a weekly setting change for the "main" part of the nexus, which you can use or not as you will. Beyond that everything is in a state of flux, forming psychically out of the efforts of the characters and muns involved. If your character was just in a forest, then it can be a forest. If you want an alien spaceship or a beach or anything else, the nexus forms around that need, and your character can control that as much as you want or need them to. Want them to wake up in a haunted house they've never seen before? Want to start a thread as Crowley where other players' characters wake up on his table? That's totally your call. You choose the setting, and if other people don't like it they don't have to tag in.
Can I crosspost?
Yes absolutely, you can crosspost to Purgatory the same posts you put on
dear_mun ,
freeyourmind, or anywhere else for that matter.
Can I play a continuing storyline?
Of course, though be sure to keep your threadmates up to speed. Dressing room continuity can be weird because you might be playing three different scenarios at the same time. I like to imagine it's a series of alternate timelines that you can either merge into one or pick and choose which things you want to stick with your character as their RP lives go on.
Are my characters trapped here? Are they aware they're in this nexus?
If they need to be. It's up to you! These are hunters we're talking about, they're good at figuring out the truth of their reality. Please be clear with other players, though. If someone is playing a new character discovering the nexus, they might not want to be "saved" and inundated with all the secrets of their new environment. Tread lightly! Make it fun!
What about NSFW content?
NSFW content is allowed! NSFW setting starters should be behind a cut and marked appropriately. If a thread goes NSFW both players need to agree to it and one of the players needs to change the comment subject to NSFW. The player who started the thread needs to change the post's age restriction to 18+.
My question isn't here.
Ask away! I'll add any really important things to the FAQ, or answer right in the comments.
